Motorcycle accidents: Bike passenger dies in crash

A variety of shapes and sizes of vehicles travel along Kentucky roadways. Although many types are permitted, some vehicles are certainly at a disadvantage to others due to a difference in size. Motorcycles and their riders are definitely at a disadvantage when motorcycle accidents with larger vehicles occur. Sadly, a recent fatal crash involving a motorcycle underscores the harm that these types of accidents can cause.

Two riders were traveling eastbound when the crash occurred. Both riders were 43 years old and were reportedly wearing helmets. The driver of the motorcycle was unable to avoid a crash with a minivan whose driver made a left turn and pulled into the bike's path.

Sadly, both motorcycle riders suffered serious injuries. The driver was airlifted to a medical center, and his condition is unknown. Sadly, the passenger on the motorcycle did not survive her injuries. Reportedly, none of the minivan occupants suffered any injuries. No charges have been filed against the minivan driver at this time, and the investigation is still pending.

Unfortunately, when motorcycle accidents occur, serious injury or fatalities are a possibility. Kentucky personal injury attorneys understand the disadvantages bike riders face on the road and the stereotypes that are mistakenly applied to all riders. Attorneys are equipped to assist victims and family members of deceased victims to file auto insurance claims to help offset the unexpected medical and/or burial expenses. In cases where damages may surpass insurance coverage, attorneys can assist victims with filing a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit in civil court.
