MARSHALL COUNTY, KY – Kentucky State Police said a child died in one of multiple collisions on Interstate 24 in Marshall County last week, according to WPSD.
State troopers responded to the series of crashes along the Tennessee River Bridge Wednesday night and Thursday morning during icy conditions on I-24.
In one of the incidents, a 2003 Freightliner truck was rear-ended by a 2022 Freightliner truck. An 18-month-old child was ejected from the 2022 Freightliner and was then struck by a BMW 535. The toddler was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said the victim was not restrained in the vehicle at the time.
A total of seven collisions were reported that involved 12 tractor-trailers and six passenger vehicles. The accidents shut down the westbound lanes of I-24.
