LOUISVILLE, KY – A fatal collision between a box truck and an SUV shut down a portion of Interstate 71 northeast of Louisville Tuesday morning.
According to WLKY, the driver of a Nissan Rouge had stopped in southbound traffic just before exit 14 for Highway 329. Oldham County Police said a box truck failed to stop in time and hit the back of the Nissan shortly before 11:30 a.m. The SUV then hit the back of a tractor-trailer.
The SUV driver, identified as 39-year-old Daniel L. Griffith of Crestwood, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic was disrupted for hours for drivers headed south into the Louisville Metro area while police and emergency crews worked the crash scene. The wreck remains under investigation.
