LOUISVILLE, KY – One person was killed and another injured when a car slammed into a building in Louisville on Saturday morning, police said.

According to WAVE, the accident happened after the driver of a Ford Expedition lost control of the vehicle while headed south on National Turnpike at about 1:30 a.m.

Police said the woman driving had veered left, causing the car to rotate and cross into the northbound lanes. The Ford struck a curb and then hit the corner of the building in the 8200 block of National Turnpike.

The driver was later pronounced dead at University of Louisville Hospital. A male passenger was taken to the same hospital, where his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
