METCALFE COUNTY, KY – Kentucky State Police say a woman was killed in a head-on collision in Metcalfe County Monday afternoon.
Police said in a news release that the accident occurred on U.S. 68 at 4:11 p.m. According to the preliminary investigation, 32-year-old Meridith Spear of Magnolia, Kentucky was driving a Nissan Altima south on U.S. 68 when she failed to negotiate a curve properly.
The Altima crossed the center line of the roadway and entered the northbound lane, where it collided with a northbound Dodge box truck. Troopers said the truck driver, 54-year-old Edward Harris of Manchester, Kentucky, swerved but was unable to avoid the crash.
Spear was pronounced dead at the scene. Harris was not injured. Troopers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the wreck.
