LOUISVILLE, KY – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal moped accident that happened in Louisville on Sunday evening, reports WLKY.
This is an update to a previous story.
The man killed was 35-year-old David Scott Schweiss of Louisville, according to the coroner’s office. Schweiss was riding a moped north on Preston Highway near Bennet Lane in Newburg when a southbound vehicle turned in front of the moped at about 7:30 p.m. The moped crashed into the vehicle’s passenger side and Schweiss was thrown from the bike. He was then hit by a second northbound vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Louisville police said both vehicles fled the area following the accident without stopping to help. Police said one of the vehicles was located and seized, but the second has yet to be found.
Schweiss’ sister Melissa Krebs was quoted as saying that Schweiss was a delivery worker for Uber Eats who was on a delivery the night of the crash.
