Louisville police officer hospitalized after being struck by motorcycle

LOUISVILLE, KY – A motorcyclist was taken into custody after striking a Louisville Metro Police officer Thursday afternoon, reports WDRB.

Police were responding to a reported domestic incident on Bon Air Avenue near Bowman Field at about 2:30 p.m. when they said a man on a motorcycle intentionally struck one of the officers.  The officer suffered leg and foot injuries and was hospitalized.

Officers set out in pursuit of the motorcyclist, who was identified as 23-year-old Derek Hill of Louisville.

Police said Hill went through three red lights and struck two vehicles before laying down his motorcycle on Taylorsville Road and surrendering.

Hill was arrested on several charges, including first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree assault of a police officer.
