INDEPENDENCE, KY – A man died after an accident recently at a freight trucking facility in Northern Kentucky, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
The incident occurred Feb. 16 at the Southern Eastern Freight Lines company on Fleet Boulevard in Boone County.
Deputies were called to the scene at about 8:15 p.m. following a report that a man was possibly dead after being trapped under the wheel of a tractor-trailer.
Investigators determined that Ricky Markley of Erlanger was hooking a dolly up to his tractor-trailer when the truck began to move. Markley was trapped between the tires of the two trailers attached to the semi.
The tires started to roll over him as a co-worker tried to help. Officials said it took several minutes to put the truck into reverse because the air pressure was insufficient. Markley suffered fatal injuries.
An inspection into the incident is being conducted by the Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health staff.
