JEFFERSON COUNTY, KY – Authorities said a man died when his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a van in Louisville Saturday morning, WAVE reports.

Police responded to the scene on the 10900 block of Greenbelt Highway after the incident occurred at about 12:20 a.m.

Investigators said 29-year-old Logan Vardeman was riding a motorcycle north at a high rate of speed.  He collided with a van working as an Uber taxi that was turning out of a driveway to head south on Greenbelt Highway.

Vardeman struck the rear of the van on the driver’s side, and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, officials said.

The driver of the van was transported to Norton Suburban Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.  A passenger in the van was not hurt.

The accident remains under investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department Traffic Unit.

Motorcycle accidents often result in serious injuries due to many factors. A motorcycle offers less protection to its rider than a truck or automobile.
