CAVE CITY, KY – Kentucky State Police said a driver was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Barren County on Sunday afternoon.
In a news release, state troopers said the incident happened at the 53 mile marker of I-65 northbound near Cave City and was reported at about 3:20 p.m.
Investigators determined that 74-year-old Mark D. Baughan of Cincinnati was driving a Nissan June north when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a concrete barrier wall, caused the car to overturn. Baughan was taken to University of Louisville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about three hours later.
His passenger, 68-year-old Laura Baughan of Cincinnati, suffered minor injuries and was taken to TJ Samson Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
