SHIVELY, KY – An officer with the Shively Police Department was injured on the job at an accident scene on northbound Dixie Highway Wednesday morning.
According to WDRB, officers were responding to the area near San Jose Avenue at about 6:40 a.m. after one vehicle struck another car, causing it crash into a Transit Authority of River City bus.
One of the officers was investigating the incident when the police car was struck by another vehicle. The officer was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening. A passenger on the TARC bus was also hurt.
Police said the driver who caused the initial collision left the scene and is now being sought. The vehicle involved was described as a pickup truck with heavy damage to the passenger side and front end.
Dixie Highway north was shut down to traffic at Gagel Avenue for the accident investigation.
